My name is Megan Guild, and I am currently in the TCPCG Program (Teacher Certification for College Graduates) at UConn. By next May, I will have my Master's in Education and certification to teach Spanish. I recently graduated from UConn (May 2011), with a B.A in Spanish, with a concentration in Culture & Communication, a B.S. in Business Management with a concentration in International Business, and a minor in International Studies. As you can tell by my resume, I like studying other cultures and languages! I have chosen to become a Spanish teacher so that I can share all of my knowledge and passion of these topics with my students.
I studied abroad for a semester in the Fall of 2009 in Granada, Spain. Granada is in the most southern region of Spain, called Andalucia, and is famous for La Alhambra, which is many large palaces from when the Moors ruled over the city in the 14th and 15th centuries. It is magnificent- and can be seen from many places within Granada because it is so high, in comparison rest of the city. I personally visited it 3 times when I was living there! (photo of me there is below).
Within Spain, I visited many cities including- Malaga, Sevilla, Cordoba, Baeza, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Segovia, and Toledo. I was also fortunate enough to visit Paris, London, Rome, and Florence while abroad.
In my free time, I enjoy Irish Step Dancing- I have been dancing since I was 7, and danced competitively for many years, even traveling to Ireland for competition. I also enjoy playing a friendly game of tennis. I love to read, especially Janet Evanovich novels, cook, watch movies, and spend time with friends and family. I have two older sisters- my middle sister is also studying to become a teacher, but is going to be teaching Special Education.
